What to do if I come to Valencia in summer? If you are going to visit Valencia during these months, here are the best tips told by a Valencian:

1.- Protect yourself from the sun

Valencia can be very hot during the summer, so be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and light, breathable clothing. It is also important to stay hydrated by drinking enough water.

2.- Bathe in the best beaches

Valencia has beautiful beaches, such as the Malvarrosa beach or the Patacona beach. Take advantage of the good weather to relax, sunbathe and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. There are also many beach bars where you can eat cheap just a step away from the sea.

🔸We recommend that you go to the Patacona beach, since it is less crowded, the water is cleaner and it has a beach bar that is our favorite: the Beach Bar on el Chiringuito el 8

Here are our favorite beachside restaurants for you (here you can have an authentic valencian paella): Cocoa, Casa Navarro, Casa César el Delfín, Casa Carmela, or Restaurante la Marítima.

3.- Explore the City of Arts and Sciences

This architectural complex is one of the main attractions of Valencia. It includes the Oceanogràfic, the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum and the Hemisfèric. Take time to visit these impressive structures and enjoy their displays.

During the month of July they hold free events in the CaixaForum building, the old Agora.

4.-Fall in love with the old town

The Barrio del Carmen is the old town of Valencia and offers a charming maze of narrow streets and picturesque squares. Explore its shops, bars and restaurants, and don’t miss the Valencia Cathedral, where they say the Holy Chalice is located, and the Lonja de la Seda, a Gothic masterpiece.

🔸 Tip: take advantage during the day, as is super hot, to enter one of the buildings in the center, such as the Central Market or the spectacular Lonja de la Seda. And when night falls,   walk the streets of Carmen, which is one of the most lively neighborhoods in the city.

5.- Try the Valencian paella, but well done

Valencia is the cradle of paella, so you cannot leave without trying this delicious dish. Find a traditional restaurant and enjoy an authentic Valencian paella, prepared with rice, chicken, rabbit and other fresh ingredients cooked over firewood.
